The Golden Boar is a family owned free of tie restaurant, with a welcoming bar and six en-suite letting rooms, that has recently undergone a major refurbishment.  The new owners have some new and exciting ideas for the Golden Boar and the successful applicant will be an integral part of the business and the future development. 

Job Summary

As the Head of Food & Beverage you will be responsible for overseeing and leading the operation of the kitchen, including the management of the kitchen team, food preparation, cost and quality control. 

The Head of Food & Beverage will report to the General Manager as part of the senior management team and be have an input in the future development of the business. 

Main Duties 

  • Coordinate the selection, training, development, and evaluation of the kitchen team through effective management and leadership; ensuring that high standards are met and maintained.
  • Effectively plan and develop menus for the restaurant considering factors such as product availability, food and service cost, marketing conditions and business volume; assign prices for daily menus that result in net profit.
  • Control labour and operating expenses through effective planning, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory control whilst focusing on creative cost control and revenue generation solutions to maximize profit in the department and hotel.
  • Ensure full compliance of all food and hygiene standards and regulations at all times, and ensure necessary training and checks are in place.
  • Respond to guest complaints and special requests, ensuring corrective action is taken to achieve guest satisfaction.

Qualifications and Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working within a fast-paced hotel and restaurant kitchen and have a proven track record in delivering exceptional food in a time pressured environment.

You will have also completed a degree or certificate in culinary arts and have five years, experience as a chef, with at least one year in a Head Chef capacity or equivalent combination of education and culinary/kitchen operations experience.

Strong leadership and organisational skills are a must in this role, along with a high attention to detail. You will also have excellent communication skills at all levels and must be able to speak fluent English and must also be eligible to live and work in the UK.

Salary 

The new washing machines will be delivered hopefully sometime between the 3rdand 7thJuly.

The flooring contractor is due in Sunday 9thJuly.

I have asked the contractor to run the lino up the plinth.   

Our actions 

Clear enough space in the garage to fit the 3 new machines in 

Jimmy – Is there an opportunity to have 1 of the 3 big machines moved to the hotel?  This will mean cannibalising all to get the one 

We need to make good the plinth where the washing machines are 

There are two washing machines that are leaking. – Jimmy, do you know the faults with them?
